Old PP Airport Reopens as Public Park for Khmer New Year

The decommissioned Phnom Penh International Airport is opening its gates to the public for a nine-day trial from April 11 to 19, 2026. Residents are invited to celebrate Khmer New Year by exploring the historic runways and aviation buildings free of charge between the hours of 5:00 AM and 9:00 PM daily.

Pedestrians can access the site through VIP Gate 1, while those driving should enter via Terminal Entrance 3 and exit through Terminal Entrance 2. Parking is available at a rate of 1,000 riel for motorbikes and 2,000 riel for cars, while bicycle parking remains free.

Since ending flight operations in July 2025, the airport has remained state property. Prime Minister Hun Manet confirmed the site will not be sold to private developers. Instead, the government aims to maintain the $3 million-a-year facility as a “reserve area” and a permanent public recreational space for the city’s residents.
