The capital of tourism in Cambodia, Siem Reap takes your experiences to the next level by the activities and sights you can see here. It’s the perfect place to visit during vacations and one of the best areas in the country to live in, especially if you want to get away from the city.

However, not all areas in Siem Reap can be the perfect place for you to live in since this is a developing city. This means you can’t find markets or other conveniences everywhere you look. Considering convenience and other benefits, the best area you can move to is downtown Siem Reap! We’ve curated the reasons below on why you need to live here.

1. Activities Galore

You will never be short of activities you can do in downtown Siem Reap. While the whole city is made for tourists, its downtown area is where you can find most activities you can do. For example, if you like going on tours of the nearby historical temples, then it’s easy to find one that you like here. Whether it’s a tour for Angkor Wat or other Angkor temples, it’s available.

Moreover, if you want to explore more of the Khmer culture by going on tours in nearby fishing communes and taking cooking classes, then you can do so here at downtown Siem Reap!

2. Numerous Markets At Your Reach

Whether you’re shopping for daily necessities, fashion, or even souvenirs, a number of markets are located in downtown Siem Reap that will make it easier for you to find what you need. See below some of the markets here:

Pub Street

The best place for fun chill nights is the Pub Street in downtown Siem Reap. Not only can you drink and eat with your friends since there’s a number of bars and restaurants here but you can also shop with them! Get souvenirs while you grab drinks with friends and other travelers.

Angkor Night Market

Five minutes away from Pub Street is Angkor Night Market where you can get almost anything you want to buy. The streets are lined by more than two hundred vendors, selling household items like food, kitchenware, and other decorations. If you want to buy paintings, sculptures, electronics and more, then you can find vendors that sell quality items here. Moreover, finding clothes and accessories are easy here!

3. Close To Historical Temples

Embark on a cultural adventure anytime you want if you live in downtown Siem Reap since it’s close to a number of historical temples. For example, you can easily go to Angkor Wat here. It’s the largest religious structure in the world, ever since it was built in the 12th century. As a World Heritage site, it’s one of the biggest reasons why tourists and those going on their pilgrimages visit Siem Reap, especially since you can’t find other temples similar to it.

Moreover, a number of historical temples are close to Angkor Wat like the Ta Prohm Temple, Bayon Temple, and Banteay Srei.

If you’re looking for places you can rent during your stay in downtown Siem Reap or you want to buy a home, then check out the listings in leading real estate company in Cambodia , IPS Cambodia. A number of residences like a 1 BR condo for sale are available at any given time so just make sure to check it!
